HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — The Ludington & Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner at Lincoln Hills Golf Club Saturday night and it honored Shade Tree Mechanic LLC with the 2016 Business of the Year award and Kathy Radtke of Victory Township with the 2016 Community Service Award.

Shade Tree Mechanic is located at 4990 Progress Drive in Pere Marquette Township and is owned by Jim and Becky Matthews. Jim thanked his employees, God, and their customers for helping the business be a success.

Radtke is a former teacher at Ludington Area Schools who retired in 2009. She continues to volunteer her time working with children at Sandcastle’s Children’s Museum and the Mason County District Library. She also volunteers with the Ludington Petunia Parade.

Other businesses nominated for the award included Lighthouse Realty of Ludington, ServPro of Manistee, Ludington, and Cadillac, and Bayshore Real Estate of Amber Township.

Other nominees for Community Service Award included Tom and Patricia Ezdebski of Ludington, Dave and Shelia Preston of Ludington, Ed Santarelli of New York, Rick Plummer of Ludington, Sally and Jerry Cole of Scottville, and the Ludington Petunia Parade.

The 2016 Future Five honorees were also recognized. They include Crystal Young, Adam Lamb, Spence Riggs, Shelby Soberalski, and Jamie Spore.
