79th District Court sentencings and dismissals.

LUDINGTON — The following were recently sentenced in 79th District Court:

-Linda Ellen Carlson, 61, of 109 W. Dowland St., Ludington, pleaded guilty April 25 to impaired driving and was sentenced to 32 days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend victim’s impact weekend; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; must not operate a vehicle until properly licensed; must continue current outpatient counseling; and $870 in fines/costs. May perform 40 hours of community service for a $400 credit toward fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS). A charge of failure to stop after an accident was dismissed.

-Steven Matthew Kratz, 30, of 914 Woodlawn Ave., Ludington, pleaded guilty April 25 to breaking and entering and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; must have substance abuse evaluation; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random PBTs; and $535 in fines/costs.

-Kendra Lee Luthy, 33, of 309 N. Park St., Ludington, pleaded guilty April 25 to disorderly person jostling and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random PBTs; no contact with the victim; must obtain substance abuse counseling; and $285 in fines/costs. A charge of second-offense domestic violence was dismissed.

-Nathan Sean Garn, 27, of 721 Dexter St., Ludington, pleaded guilty April 25 to driving while license suspended (DWLS) and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year and $333 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. Charges of larceny less than $200 and tampering with a motor vehicle were dismissed.

-Robert Russell Albert Wells, 72, of 1100 E. Tinkham Ave., Apt. 13, Ludington, pleaded guilty April 26 to receiving and concealing stolen property and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; one year discretionary jail for one year; must not possess any credit cards in other people’s names; and must not possess any personal information of other people to convey to someone else. A charge of obtaining/possessing personal identification and three counts of stealing/retaining a financial transaction device without consent were dismissed.

-Jeremy Richard Sobers, 40, of 3757 N. Reek Rd., Sherman Township, pleaded guilty April 25 to DWLS and was sentenced to 180 days in jail.  Jail term is concurrent with time imposed in another matter. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of animal cruelty was dismissed.

-Robert Floyd Raczok, 67, of 4161 S. 198 Ave., Hesperia, pleaded guilty May 1 to DWLS and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; may not operating a vehicle until legally able to do so; 12 months of probation and $285 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.

-Kelly Jo Thompson, 46, of 352 Gibson Rd., Branch Township, pleaded guilty April 25 to allowing a person to drive in violation of the motor vehicle code and having an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle.  She was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random PBTs and $600 in fines/costs.

Dismissals

-Jenna Lee Berndt, 32, of 6169 N. Lincoln Rd., Hamlin Township, had charges of delivery/manufacturing marijuana and possession of synthetic marijuana dismissed without prejudice on April 27. Court records indicate, “The interests of justice do not require further prosecution.”

-Crystal Lynn Appel, 40, of 321 N. James St., Apt. 1, Ludington, had a charge of truancy dismissed without prejudice on April 26. Court records indicated, “Student was doing online school. Defendant just did not notify the school.”

-Kyle Theodore Lunde, 39, of 406 E. Court St., Apt. B, Ludington, had a charge of operating a vehicle without security (no insurance) dismissed without prejudice on April 25. Court records indicated, “Defendant pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.”

-Christopher Steven Studer, 19, of 6177 S. Scottville Rd., Riverton Township, had a charge of operating a vehicle without security (no insurance) dismissed without prejudice on April 25. Court records indicated, “Defendant pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of no proof of insurance.”
