Driver receives minor injuries following car/deer crash.

SHERMAN TOWNSHIP — An 84-year-old Montague woman received minor injuries after the Toyota Prius she was driving struck a deer on US 31 Saturday afternoon. The crash occurred just north of Decker Road. Emergency personnel from Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Scottville Fire Department, and Life EMS responded to the scene. Custer Fire Department’s extrication vehicle was also dispatched but disregarded prior to arrival on scene. EMS personnel checked over the woman, who complained of some minor injuries, but she refused to be transported by ambulance to the hospital. The woman’s 85-year-old husband was uninjured in the crash as well. The deer died as a result of the crash.
