VICTORY TOWNSHIP — The fourth annual Law Dogs vs. Smoke Eaters hockey game is this Saturday. The game is full of pranks among the firefighters and cops out on the rink, but the cause is certainly serious. The event raises money for the Mason County Fire Relief Fund, which is money given to victims of fires in Mason County. This year’s event will also include fundraisers for Riverton Township Fire Chief Joe Cooper, who is currently battling multiple myeloma, a type of bone cancer.

The hockey game begins at 6 p.m. and doors open at 5 p.m. It also features silent auction items, a chuck a puck contest and many other great ways for you to give.

The Law Dogs have managed to win the game the past three years. But Smoke Eaters Coach Joe Cooper is optimistic the firefighters will prevail this year.

“We should be quicker on the ice this year,” Cooer said. “Our team has been practicing a lot to improve and our secret is to stay away from the doughnuts which our opponents crave! We have a big advantage in my book.”

Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, coach of the Law Dogs team, says the firefighters are all washed up.

“We’ve got some surprises for our opponents and their game will be going up in smoke,” Cole said.

If you are unable to make the game, you can catch it live on the Mason County Press Facebook page, thanks for Freeman Creek Equipment, Ziehm LP Gas, and the Hof Bar and Grill. MCP’s own Danny “V” Vargas will be announcing the game.
