FOUNTAIN — The Village of Fountain will hold a day-long event, Fountain Heritage Day, celebrating the dedication of the village’s new sculpture on Saturday, April 15. Events begin at 10 a.m. with a horseshoe tournament to be held behind Delaney’s Restaurant on Main Street, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. The celebration will include displays of old logging tools, pictures, and memorabilia from Fountain. There will also be a tractor show along with kids games and crafts.

The dedication of the sculpture will take place at 1 p.m. at Heritage Park. Key note speaker will be state forester Bill O’Neal. A reception at Sherman Township Hall will follow. The sculpture has been created by New Era artist Rueban Llano and it features two massive work horses pulling lumber. The sculpture is part of the Mason County Sculpture Trail and the first dedicated on the eastern side of the county.

Anyone with old tools or logging equipment or Fountain memorabilia should contact Shirley Chancellor at 231-462-3533. Anyone who would like to display a tractor, old or new, should contact Joe Mickevich at 231-462-3908.
