LUDINGTON — A 49-year-old Ludington man faces jail time after pleading guilty in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, Jan. 3, to a high-court misdemeanor of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) and fourth-offense habitual offender.

Steven John Ziemkowski, of 607 Seventh St., was arrested last November by the Ludington Police Department. He is currently free after posting 10 percent of a $7,500 bond.

The female victim, who was 18 years or older at the time of the offense, suffers from “mental deficiencies,” said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola. Ziemkowski testified that he inappropriately touched the victim at a location on M 116 in Hamlin Township.

As a convicted sex offender, he was facing a maximum term of 15 years in prison with his habitual offender status, Spaniola said.

Ziemkowski’s plea agreement calls for a one-year discretionary jail term, with his up-front time to be determined, and it will fall under the state sentencing guidelines, the prosecutor said. He will also be ordered to have no contact with victim.

Sentencing is set for Feb. 14 at 1:45 p.m.
