LUDINGTON — Curt VanderWall is likely to win the 101st Michigan House of Representatives seat. The Republican from Pere Marquette Township is currently leading Democratic opponent Dan Scripps by 53% with 75 percent of precincts reporting.

The 101st District covers Mason, Manistee, Benzie, and Leelanau counties. With 24 out of 25 precincts reporting in Mason County, VanderWall has won here 8,409 to 5,462 (60%). With 18 of 19 precincts reporting in Manistee County, VanderWall has won there 5,816-5,140 (52%).

VanderWall is chairman of the Mason County board of commissioners and owns his own business in Ludington. It will be the first time since the 1970s when Jeff Dongvillo of Scottville represented the area.
