HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — Six local “stars” will take center stage at Lincoln Hills Golf Club on October 22, 2016 to raise money for the Ludington Area District School’s Oriole Foundation. Pennies from Heaven Foundation has offered the Oriole Foundation a 50/50 match challenge to raise $500,000 with this event.

“With the generosity of the Pennies from Heaven Foundation, public donations will go twice as far.” said Laura Paine, president of the Oriole Foundation. “This is a tremendous opportunity for the Oriole Foundation to ensure that students within the Ludington Area School District have access to unique opportunities, experiences and resources for decades to come.”

Every dollar raised for the Dancing with the Local Stars event will be included in the match challenge. The public can make donations online to the Oriole Foundation through the Mason County Community Foundation website.

Money raised by each dancing couple for the People’s Choice Award will also be considered for the match challenge. The People’s Choice Award is determined by the amount of money each couple can raise: $1 equals 1 vote.  The public can cast its votes at various locations represented by the dancers throughout the community, at the LASD Central Business Office, 809 E. Tinkham Ave., Monday through Friday until October 21 or online at www.lasd.net.

The local stars taking the stage on October 22 include:

  • Jim Scatena (FloraCraft) and Kaitlyn Sanocki (Calista’s School of Dance)
