LANSING — State Rep. Ray Franz, R-Onekama, was joined by Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole and Lake County Sheriff Dennis Robinson for the annual Michigan House of Representatives 9/11 Memorial Service today.

The ceremony marked the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, and honored military members and servicemen. The names of 12 first responders and three military members from Michigan who died in the line of duty during the past year were read during the ceremony.

House Representatives invited first responders, military members, and law enforcement officers as guests to join them in honoring the victims and heroes of 9/11, and men and woman serving today.

“American men and women here and abroad have given so much to protect the ideals that define us,” Rep. Franz said. “It was a great honor to have both Sheriff Cole and Sheriff Robinson here to be recognized by all of Michigan.”

Franz represents the 101st house district, which covers Mason, Manistee, Benzie and Leelanau counties.
