Duo charged with 8 felonies following overnight break-ins.

SHERMAN TOWNSHIP — A 25-year-old Fountain man and a 37-year-old Fountain man are being charged with eight felonies apiece in connection with two break-ins overnight.

“On Tuesday, Aug. 9, at approximately 11:10 p.m., Mason County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported breaking and entering to a pole building on East Mavis Road,” states a press release from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. “Shortly thereafter, at 11:56 p.m., deputies responded to an alarm at the Fountain Lumber Company in the Village of Fountain.

“During the course of the investigation, deputies were able to identify two suspects and a vehicle believed to be involved,” states the press release. “At 12:38 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, a deputy spotted a vehicle matching that of the suspect vehicle in the breaking and enterings and initiated a traffic stop.

“Deputies arrested a 25-year-old Fountain man and a 37-year-old Fountain man at the scene of the stop and recovered suspected stolen property from both scenes.”

Warrants have been obtained for both suspects, charging each with the following:

East Mavis Road pole barn:
Count 1-breaking and entering a building with intent, 10-year felony;
Count 2-weapons-felony firearm, two-year felony;
Count 3-weapons-firearms-larceny, five-year and/or $2,500 felony;
Count 4-larceny in a building, four-year and/or $5,000 felony;
Count 5-weapons-firearms-possession by a felon, five-year and/or $5,000 felony.

Fountain Lumber Company:
Count 1-breaking and entering a building with intent;
Count 2-larceny in a building;
Count 3-burglar’s tools-possession, 10-year felony.

Names are being withheld pending arraignment, and the case remains under investigation.
