Prayer vigil to be held for Orlando victims.

June 14, 2016

MANISTEE — Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Manistee is inviting the community to a candlelight vigil on Thursday, June 16 at 7 p.m. to honor the victims of last Sunday’s massacre in Orlando.  The event is being co-hosted by Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and PFLAG Manistee, the latter an education and support group for parents and friends of homosexual, bisexual and transgender individuals.

“Our goal for this event is to help our local community respond to the tragedy in Orlando in a way that offers solace and strength,” said Linda Karle-Nelson, co-president of PFLAG Manistee. “It is an opportunity for the local area to share in the reality of the challenges that LGBT people face regularly.  We will honor the memory of all those affected so directly by the shooting, and make a statement of solidarity with the LGBT community.”

The vigil will include prayer, music, and reading of the names of the victims.  Donations for the victims will be accepted.  Holy Trinity Episcopal Church is located at 410 Second Street in Manistee.
