MCP, Scottville Optimists hosting candidates forum.

SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Press and the Scottville Optimist Club will host a candidates forum on Wednesday, July 13 at the Scottville Clown Band Shell at 6 p.m.

Candidates running for election in state and local contests have been invited to attend; local candidates being invited are those who are running in contests that may impact voters in the eastern portion of the county, said Editor-in-Chief Rob Alway. “We welcome all candidates but we recognize that our primary audience for this forum are those who live in the eastern part of Mason County. We believe this is a valuable opportunity for the public to meet and interact with candidates. It’s vital that every single voting age adult be part of the election process. This is one of our greatest responsibilities as citizens of this republic.”

Candidates who are running unopposed will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and speak briefly about their office. Contested candidates (from both primary and general races) will be asked moderated questions from the audience and from MCP.
