Duane J. Baker age 80, of Fountain peacefully passed away on Monday, May 23, at Tendercare of Ludington.

Duane was born on September 14, 1935 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Jack and Irene (Laine) Baker.

Duane attended Berlin High School and graduated with the class of 1955.

He married Marilyn J. Bekkering on March 26, 1955 in Grand Rapids. He started his family in Marne and had three girls.  He moved with his wife and three children to Colorado, and lived there for 30 years. Since 1984 Duane and Marilyn owned Quality Service Center of Scottville..  They attended Community Church of Ludington

Duane enjoyed his Labradors and living on the family farm.  He had a huge compassion for animals.  He would take in any stray that passed through.  He enjoyed adventures and road trips with his family.  Most of his later years he enjoying running the business in Scottville, alongside his loving wife, and enjoying his hobby farm.

Duane is survived by his wife Marilyn and daughters Brenda (Jim Paulson) Baker, of Elroy, Wisconsin, Barbara (Francis) Bray, of Hart and Becky (Todd) Hirthe, of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; grandchildren Eric Bray, Andrea Bray and Fiance, Ryan Bailey, Katie (Shelton) Berel, and granddaughter Ella.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Eleanor Ackerman, brother-in-law Russel Ackerman and three infant sons.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be a graveside service directly following Duane’s celebration at Marne Cemetery in Marne at 4 p.m.
