VICTORY TWP. — It looks like another year of bragging rights for the police after they defeated the firefighters in the third annual Smoke Eaters vs. Law Dogs charity hockey game Wednesday night at West Shore Community Ice Arena. The Smoke Eaters fell behind early in the game but the game was tied up until a few minutes left on the clock. The final score was 8-6.

But no matter who won, the important part of the game was that the event raised $5,500 towards the Mason County Fire Relief Fund, which was created to help families or individuals who are in need because of the loss of a home due to fire.

Over the past three years the event has raised over $15,000.

“When it comes down to it, firefighters, cops, paramedics, do what they do because they want to serve the community,” Sheriff Kim Cole said. “Being able to get together like this and have some fun is just another way we can help out our neighbors and friends.”
