Suspect allegedly destroys display case trying to steal DVDs.

servpro_springstead_022616AMBER TOWNSHIP — Troopers from the Hart post of the Michigan State Police arrested a 28-year-old Manistee man Thursday at 1:20 p.m. for a felony of malicious destruction of property (MDOP) $1,000-$20,000 after he allegedly destroyed a DVD display case at the Meijer store while attempting to steal DVDs from it.

In a separate incident, a 24-year-old Ludington man was arrested on a four-count warrant by Mason County Sheriff’s deputies Thursday, March 31, at 7:59 p.m. in the 600 block of East Melendy Street. The suspect is charged with felony obstruction, failure to appear on a felony weapons offense, felony assault by strangulation, and a misdemeanor count of domestic violence, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The following is other local law enforcement activity Thursday, March 31, 2016:

– 1:11 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), a warrant is being requested for a 35-year-old Ludington woman for retail fraud following an incident at Walmart, 4800 block of W. US 10, Pere Marquette Township.

– 1:54 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injuries, US 31 freeway near Conrad, Amber Township.

– 4:25 p.m., (MCSO), deputies were dispatched to a breaking and entering that occurred within the past 10 days, 7600 block of E. Navajo, Branch Township.

– 8:08 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, Scottville and Conrad, Custer Township.

– 11:01 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), domestic violence, 500 block of Sixth St., City of Ludington.
