servpro_springstead_022616LUDINGTON — Three suspects were arrested for separate assault-related incidents of Mason County Sheriff’s deputies over the weekend.

The first incident resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old Ludington man for resisting and opposing a police officer following a 911 call reporting a disturbance inside the Ludington Public Library Saturday, March 12, at 12:28 p.m.

A Mason County Sheriff’s deputy, who was assisting the Ludington Police Department at the scene, located the man in the library parking lot arguing with another man, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. “When approached by the deputy, the subject reportedly raised his fists and threatened the deputy with physical violence,” Cole said.

The second incident, which was Saturday at 6:32 p.m., resulted in the arrest of a 56-year-old Ludington man for felonious assault of an officer after he punched a deputy in the face, injuring his mouth, at Crosswinds Beach in the City of Ludington. The original call was an assist to DNR conservation officers for the arrest of a reported intoxicated kayaker causing a disturbance with fishermen off the north Ludington breakwall, said Cole. The DNR attempted contact with the suspect, however he paddled away to the Crosswinds Beach on the south side of the Ludington channel. An MCSO deputy made contact with the kayaker and attempted to detain him at the request of the DNR. The man then reportedly punched the deputy in the face. The subject was eventually tased by the deputy and taken into custody. Related story here
