Ludington Optimists to host chess tourney.

chessLUDINGTON — The Ludington Optimist Club will hold its 61st annual youth chess tournament on Saturday, March 12 beginning at 9 a.m. at Ludington High School cafeteria, 508 N. Washington Ave. The regional tournament is open to all students high school age or younger who play chess.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with play beginning at 10 a.m. The tournament play will continue on a timed schedule basis, three games before lunch, then two games after lunch, until five scheduled games have been completed in a round robin format. The winners in each division will be announced after the completion of all tournament match play in the afternoon. Pizza will be served for lunch.

Divisions include: High school, grades 9-12; middle school, grades 6-8; upper elementary, grades 4-5; lower elementary, grades k-3.
