Man arrested after nearly striking deputy with vehicle.

benedicts_springstead_police 091415SUMMIT TOWNSHIP — A 56-year-old Ludington man was arrested Monday night at 11:02 p.m. after he nearly struck a Mason County sheriff deputy with his vehicle. The deputy was assisting a tow truck on U.S. 31 freeway near the rest area, which was retrieving a vehicle that had slid off the road. The 56-year-old man’s vehicle was stopped by a second deputy who was responding to the same incident. The man was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle roadside.

Other activity of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office for Monday, Dec. 28, 2015 included:

– 9:16 a.m.: car/deer crash, no injuries, Schoenherr and Johnson roads, Branch Township.

– 5:20 p.m.: A 40-year-old Hart woman was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant for embezzlement following a traffic stop on Pere Marquette Highway at Oceana Drive, Summit Township.
