PENTWATER — The Pentwater Service Club collected over $500 in nine hours in front of the Pentwater Post Office, Dec. 18 and 19. Adding that to the Club’s $200 kickoff contribution, the club’s campaign chair Jerry Emery turned over $711.86 to the Salvation Army serving the area.

It’s estimated that the Salvation Army Red Kettle collection point typically receives about $30 per hour in donations, so this year’s campaign went way above the normal collection amount.

“The weather was a bit nippy on Friday,” said Service Club President Ron Christians, “but our volunteer bell ringers reported no frost-bitten fingers or toes on either day. Once again, we sure appreciated the support of our friends and neighbors who came by and put a little something into the kettle.”
