Baldwin man arrested for meth-related ID theft

SSCENTBALDWIN — A 39-year-old Baldwin man has been arraigned in the 78th District Court of White Cloud on one felony count of identity theft after allegedly using another person’s driver’s license to purchase items commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine, according to a press release issued by the State, Sheriffs’, Chiefs’ Enforcement of Narcotics Team (SSCENT).

Darrin Christopher Thomas, who was the subject of an investigation that began last August, faces up to five years in prison. The crime is alleged to have taken place in Newaygo County. Thomas is currently lodged in the Lake County jail on unrelated charges, according to SSCENT.
