Alumni basketball games to help Habitat for Humanity.

habitat_hoops_2LUDINGTON — Habitat for Humanity of Mason County is going to give one side of the county an opportunity for some bragging rights in the upcoming year. On Sunday, Dec. 27, Hoops for Homes alumni basketball event will be held at Hawley Gymnasium at Ludington High School.

The event’s forerunners were the annual basketball games between alumnus from Mason County Central and LHS. While those are the two primary schools involved, the event is open to anyone who wants to participate. The event will feature a game with more “seasoned” players along with younger, “more recent” graduates.

The first game begins at 3 p.m. with a 20 minute running clock. Players are asked to start arriving around 2 p.m.

“The games will be pickup style and are really meant for some good, post-Christmas fun,” said Meaghan Greene of Habitat for Humanity.

The cost is $10 per player and $5 for each spectator. Greene said all the funds go towards Habitat’s current projects.

“We are currently building a house in Scottville and have two other projects in the works as well,” Greene said. “This isn’t our biggest fundraiser of the year but it’s a great little event.”

Those wishing to participate should call Habitat for Humanity at 231-843-7888, email hfh.masoncounty@gmail.com or contact via Facebook.
