SHERMAN TWP. — After the third reported incident of lasers pointed at aircraft in the past week, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office has determined that the lights are “a citizen’s Christmas decorations reflecting off a barn and into the air and into the path of a passing aircraft,” said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

MCSO most recently received a report of lasers pointed at an airplane Monday, Nov. 9, at 7:50 p.m. in the 2300 block of North Tuttle Road. There have been several reported incidents of lasers pointed at the aircraft, that carries the mail, traveling from Cadillac to Ludington, Cole said. Deputies patrolling the area last night as part of their investigation noticed the decorations and laser lights reflecting off a barn and into the sky at the same time the same pilot was passing overhead, the sheriff said.
