79th District Court sentencings

LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in 79th District Court:

– Ernest William Ryan, 64, of 103 N. Reinberg Ave., Scottville, was found guilty Oct. 14 of driving while license expired and transporting open intoxicants. One count of operating without security (no vehicle insurance) was dismissed. He was sentenced to 14 days in jail with credit for 14 days served; one year probation; and $290 in fines and costs.Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).

– Andrea Mae Johnson, 38, of 823 N. Benson Rd., Branch Township, was found guilty Oct. 26 of failure to report an accident. She was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year and $325 in fines and costs.

– James Michael Kullman, 37, of 7261 Orchard Hwy., Onekama, was found guilty Oct. 8 of allowing a person to drive in violation and sentenced to $335 in fines and costs. One count of driving while license suspended (DWLS) was dismissed.

– Michael Charles Malone, 35, of 208 Ellerman St., Sturgis, was found guilty Oct. 22 of attempting to snag a fish and sentenced to $275 in fines and costs. One count of fishing with bare hook/no bait dismissed.

– Arturo Ysabelg Lopez, 32, of 2280 E. Ferry St., Shelby, was found guilty Oct. 19 of allowing a person to drive in violation. He was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year and $335 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS dismissed.

– Paul William Rosenogle, 20, of 6713 E. Eastlake, Baldwin, was found guilty Oct. 26 of DWLS. He was sentenced to six months discretionary jail for one year; jail term is concurrent with another matter; and is to receive credit for time served from Sept. 22. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Jesus Reyes-Castaneda, 45, of 813 E. Filer St., Ludington, was found guilty Oct. 22 of failure to display a valid license and sentenced to $275 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

Dismissals

– Dale Allyn Lifer, 80, of 1019 W. Hoague Rd., Grant Township, one count of aggravated domestic assault was dismissed Oct. 21. “People cannot prove case beyond a reasonable doubt,” court records state.

– Lane Hardin Simpson, 36, of 15652 Circle 301, Abilene, Texas, one count of operating a motor vehicle without security was dismissed Oct. 21. “Defendant pleaded to a lesser charge,” court records state.

– Richard Kenneth Ferris, 51, of 212 E. Ludington Ave., #237, Ludington, one count of DWLS dismissed Oct. 21. “Defendant has pleaded to a lesser charge,” court records state.

– Chad Alan Bentley, 33, of 907 S. Madison Ave., Ludington, one count of possession of marijuana was dismissed Oct. 14. “Defendant had applied for medical marijuana card July 8, 2015 and card was issued Aug. 6, 2015,” court records state.

– James Christopher LeClair, 32, of 929 N. Gaylord Ave., Ludington, one count of assault and battery was dismissed Oct. 21. “Interests of justice do not require further prosecution of this matter at this time,” court records state.
