AMBER TOWNSHIP — Two vehicles were involved in a crash Tuesday morning after a 90-year-old Idlewild man apparently attempted to make a left-hand turn from the far right lane. The crash occurred about 7:50 a.m. A Pontiac minivan, driven by the 90-year-old man, was westbound just west of Scottville, traveling in the right lane. A Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by a 30-year-old Scottville woman was traveling in the left lane, also westbound. According to deputies on the scene, the 30-year-old said the Pontiac’s turn signal came on and the man then proceeded to make a left-hand turn in front of her vehicle.

Initial dispatch information stated the man was trapped in his vehicle, however hydraulic extrication equipment was not needed to remove him from the vehicle. 90-year-old man was being evaluated by ambulance personnel on scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.

Responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Scottville Police Department, Scottville Fire Department and Life EMS ambulance. Custer Fire Department’s rescue unit was initially dispatched but disregarded.
