HART — A 49-year-old Muskegon Heights man was sentenced to serve eight months up front of a one-year discretionary jail sentence Monday, Sept. 28, in 27th Circuit Court for a conviction of possession with intent to deliver less than 50 grams of heroin.

James William Sydnor, Jr., also faced one count of heroin possession less than 25 grams, but that charge was dismissed in a plea agreement.

Sydnor was apprehended by local police last May when he was transporting heroin from Muskegon to Ludington, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon.

Judge Anthony Monton also sentenced Sydnor to two years probation; no drugs/must submit to testing; and a one-year driver’s license suspension with eligibility for a restricted license after 60 days.

He received credit for 145 days served in jail.
