SCOTTVILLE – This week’s Tuesday Night Concert at the Scottville Clown Band Shell will feature the musical stylings of Nick Pfent.

Pfent has been a music lover for as long as he can remember, though his vocal performing experience began in high school. He took his love for music to new levels by writing and performing his own songs, accompanying himself with either his guitar or piano. After high school, he attended Berklee College of Music where he was able to study abroad and performed at the Jazz & Rock Schulen in Freiburg, Germany.

In pursuit of furthering his professional music experience, Pfent moved to Phoenix, Arizona a year ago, where he met the talented guitarist, Arthur Detrie. The two began playing together and formed the band Spar Afar. Now composed of five members, the band plays gigs around the Phoenix area, performing all original songs, influenced by such bands as the Fray and Coldplay. Spar Afar’s debut EP is titled “Stoic Poet” and can be found on various streaming websites.

As for his solo gigs, Pfent takes a more classical tone in his songwriting. His would-be rock songs have a more acoustic laid-back sound.

A west Michigan native, Pfent grew up in Holland and spent his summers at his family’s cabin in Pentwater. Though he now resides in Arizona, Michigan holds a special place in his heart and he tries to play at least one gig a year in his old stomping grounds.

Tuesday’s concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Scottville Clown Band Shell. Join this very talented musician for an evening of excellent musical entertainment.
