SCOTTVILLE — Sue Burgess was the winner of this year’s Scottville Rubber Ducky race that took place Sunday, July 12 on the Pere Marquette River at Riverside Park. Duck number 060 was the lucky duck. It was one of 670 ducks that competed in the annual race. Squires Chiropractic of Scottville won the corporate duck race out of 40 competing ducks. The corporate winner donates the earnings to a charity of the company’s choice.

Joe Knowles of the race committee said five of the winning tickets were sold at Henry’s Landing, located across from Riverside Park. “I guess I know where to go and buy my tickets next year,” Knowles said.

“This event takes a lot of effort from many people in the community. Ticket sales start months before the event and local merchants work hard to spread the word,” Knowles said adding there are many businesses that help along with members of Scottville Fire Department, who wade in the water to collect the ducks.
