JMB+rikki&nagainaLUDINGTON — The Ludington Area Center for the Arts will present Rikki Tikki Tavi, a puppet play for all ages by Jesse Mooney-Bullock Puppets on Tuesday, July 28 at 2 p.m. in the Performance Hall.

Jesse Mooney-Bullock Puppets is a Cincinnati-based puppet maker and performer. This unique puppet adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic short story, Rikki Tikki Tavi, weaves a tale of loyalty and valor as it brings to life unforgettable characters. A brave young mongoose arrives in a garden overrun with conniving cobras. Rikki musters all his courage and skill to protect the people and animals who befriend him. Enchantingly told using hand puppets, rod puppets, and masks within a lush landscape of leaves, trees and original music, Rikki Tikki Tavi is filled with a richness that will captivate and delight.

The puppet show will run 35 minutes and is best suited for children ages 3 and up and adults of any age, with or without a child to bring. In addition there will be a “pre-show” puppet vignette and “meet the puppets” time after the performance, extending the family fun to about 60 minutes total.

As an artist of puppetry, Jesse Mooney-Bullock creates work that spans many disciplines. Sculpture, live performance, painting and design, engineering, writing and storytelling converge in this art-form. Jesse has been awarded the Cincinnati Arts Ambassador Fellowship (2013) and a City of Cincinnati Individual Artist Grant (2010), as well as a Joseph Jefferson Award (Chicago). Jesse has performed his own shows (Rikki Tikki Tavi andBear Boy) throughout Cincinnati and most recently at the Chicago International Puppetry Festival (RIkki Tikki Tavi). In addition to creating and performing his own shows, Jesse designs and builds puppets on commission for theatrical productions across the country, including Redmoon Theater, Blair Thomas and Co. and the House Theater in Chicago and Marin Theatre Company in the San Francisco Bay Area.
