Dobrzelewski, Thomas named Mason Co Sports Hall of Fame student-athletes of the year.

LUDINGTON  — The Mason County Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2014-15 male and female Student-Athletes of the Year.

Ludington High School’s Noah Dobrzelewski was named the Male Student-Athlete of the Year and Brandy Thomas, also of LHS, was named the Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

Thomas competed in track and field for four years and for three years in volleyball and basketball.

She set a new LHS record in the shot put and finished as high as second in both her junior and senior years, and she was a four-time state qualifier in the event. She also is a four-time state qualifier in the discus. Twice, she set the West MIchigan All-Star Invitational shot put record. She also earned honorable mention all-conference honors in basketball and volleyball.

Thomas volunteered in several areas, from the Ludington Triathlon to the Gus Macker tournament to the Mason County District Library.

She is attending Illinois State University where she will continue compete for the women’s track and field team.

Dobrzelewski participated in swimming and diving for four years, football for three years and track and field for one year.

He was a three-time most valuable swimmer for Ludington’s program. In football, Dobrzelewski was a two-time first team all-conference lineman and was the team’s most valuable player last fall. He was selected to play in the Muskegon All-Star Classic. In track, he was a first-team all-conference performer in the shot put and qualified for the West Michigan All-Star Invitational.

Dobrzelewski owned a 4.107 grade point average and was a member of the National Honor Society. He’s worked with the Western Michigan Old Engine Club and the Scottville United Methodist Church Community Table.

He will be attending Michigan Tech University in the fall.
