SCOTTVILLE — The 2015 Tuesday night free concert series at the Scottville Clown Band Shell kicks off tonight with Awesome Distraction. The folk/bluegrass trio features Chloe Kimes, Kyle Garber and Nick Veine.
All Tuesday night shows begin at 7 p.m. In case of rain shows will be at South Main Tavern (except the Clown Band and MCC Jazz Band shows, which will be held at MCC High School).
This year’s concert series is dedicated to Bob Simms, who recently passed away. Simms was a frequent performer on the band shell stage.
While the shows are free, a donation is requested from the audience. Proceeds go towards the maintenance of the band shell. Collections taken during the first Clown Band concert will go towards the band’s newly created George F. Wilson Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund. Collections taken during the second Clown Band concert will help raise funds for the Scottville Optimist Club.
The band shell is operated jointly by the Scottville Optimist Club and the Scottville Clown Band and includes a committee with representatives from each organization and from the community.
