Jail contraband smuggling attempt thwarted

LUDINGTON — An attempt to smuggle contraband into the Mason County Jail was thwarted by Mason County Sheriff’s deputies Monday, April 13, at 4:34 a.m. Deputies intercepted possible narcotics that were being mailed to an inmate, Sheriff Kim Cole stated.

Other MCSO activity Monday, April 13, 2015 includes:

– 6:04 a.m., alarm activation, Ridge Road, Sheridan Twp.

– 8:43 a.m., vehicle/tree crash, no injuries, Linden and Lincoln, Hamlin Twp.

– 12:17 p.m., a warrant is being requested for a 43-year-old Ludington woman for retail fraud, Walmart, Pere Marquette Twp.

– 1:26 p.m., larceny of golf equipment, 6100 block of W. Barnhardt, Hamlin Twp.

– 4:46 p.m., a warrant is being requested for a 70-year-old Ludington woman for retail fraud, Walmart, PM Twp.

– 7:03 p.m., a 17-year-old Ludington man was arrested for minor in possession of alcohol (MIP) and possession of marijuana and two 18-year-old Ludington men were arrested for MIP following a reported “reckless driver” on US-10 in the area of Brye Road, Amber Twp.

– 8:15 p.m, gas drive-off, $5 in fuel taken, 5900 block of W. US-10 — Ludington EZ Mart, PM Twp.
