Scottville clean-up

April 6, 2015

SCOTTVILLE — Scottville’s annual spring clean-up will be held on Saturday, May 16. The clean-up is a chance for city residents to get rid of unwanted items that may be too bulky for regular weekly trash pick-up.

Over the next few weeks the city’s police department will be contacting residents who have junk in their yards. The residents will be given a warning and if the junk is not cleaned up by May 16, legal action will be taken.

Clean-up day acceptable items from a single family home include:

  • From a single family home: Mixed refuse placed in bags or boxes weighing less than 50 pounds, non Freon household appliances, Freon items with a Freon appliance sticker, bulky items, paint cans with lids removed.

Items that are not accepted include: building refuse, concrete, wood, earth, vehicle parts, whole tires, oil, paint or any liquids or chemicals, yard waste, tree branches, logs or stumps.

The city commission and planning commission will also be addressing blight issues in the coming months.
