LUDINGTON — Two-time U.S. Olympic silver medalist Gigi Marvin will be speaking the weekend of April 11 and 12. She is being sponsored by the Mason County Sports Hall of Fame.

Marvin will be the focus of three presentations over the weekend of April 11 and 12. Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital is hosting a coaches’ breakfast for the first 50 coaches who register from around the Lake Michigan shores at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 11. Marvin then will give a presentation from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 11, at L.F. Peterson Auditorium at Ludington High School titled, “We’re All Part of the Team.” The event is free and open to the public for those who want to hear about what it takes to be a successful team player. Free-will donations will be accepted. Mason County Sports Hall of Famer, Scottville native and former Central Michigan University assistant coach Jim Schulte will also be a guest speaker for the event.
Marvin’s final presentation is one that is faith-based, and it will be at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, April 12, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ludington. This presentation is titled, “We’re All on Team Jesus Christ,” and it is open to all area youth groups, their families and friends. A free pizza lunch will be provided.
One of the goals of the Mason County Sports Hall of Fame is to inspire and educate the public in their endeavors, both inside and outside of athletics. The Hall’s hosting of Marvin fits this mission of the Mason County Sports Hall of Fame.
Marvin, a Warroad, Minn., native won Olympic silver medals at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia and at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. Marvin has played hockey throughout her life as she was a standout player for War Road’s girls hockey team and was one of the best players in the WCHA when she was a player for the University of Minnesota’s women’s hockey team.
