PERE MARQUETTE TWP. — A 26-year-old Ludington man was arrested for retail fraud and possession of crack cocaine and a 22-year-old Fountain woman was arrested for driving while license suspended (DWLS) following a strange incident in the Walmart parking lot Saturday, March 7, at 10:24 p.m.

Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a “suspicious situation” call in the Walmart parking lot of possible intoxicated subjects, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. “Upon pulling up to the parked vehicle, the driver suddenly pulled away and was stopped by a deputy. The deputy noticed a new TV, still in its box, in the back seat. It was determined it had just been stolen from the Meijer store. During the investigation it was learned the male subject had been in Walmart earlier in the evening and reportedly attempted to steal a 50-inch TV from the store but left when confronted by employees. During a pat down of the male, he was found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine and a crack pipe.”

Both suspects were lodged in the Mason County Jail.
