March 6, 2015

MANISTEE — Two Manistee men were arrested this week in connection to a multi-agency meth lab bust in the 900 block of High Street.

Ryan David Grandy, 22, and Arlan Joe Gonzalez, 26, are each charged with one count of operating/maintaining a methamphetamine laboratory, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and/or a $25,000 fine, according to a press release issued by SSCENT Friday, March 6. Gonzalez and Grandy were arraigned in 85th District Court and are currently lodged in the Manistee County Jail.

“On January 28, 2015, detectives from SSCENT and TNT executed a search warrant in the City of Manistee,” the press release states. “As a result of the investigation, arrest warrants were issued on March 2, 2015.”

“During the execution of the search warrant, several items used in the production of methamphetamine were located inside of the home. The production of methamphetamine involves the use of hazardous materials, and as a result, requires specially-trained technicians to clean up the site. Members of the Michigan State Police Methamphetamine Enforcement

Team responded to the scene to dismantle the laboratory and remove the hazardous materials from the residence.”

SSCENT (State, Sheriffs’, Chiefs’ Enforcement of Narcotics Team) detectives were assisted by TNT-South (Traverse Narcotics Team) and members of the Manistee City Police Department. TNT-South is a multi-jurisdictional task force that covers Missaukee, Osceola, and Wexford Counties.
