The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a wind advisory for Mason County beginning at noon today until 6 a.m. Thursday. West to northwest winds will increase to 45 knot gusts this afternoon. Strongest winds will occur adjacent to the lakeshore from 2 p.m. to midnight.

Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014: Snow showers likely, mainly before 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 22. Wind chill values as low as zero. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. New Year’s Eve: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Breezy, with a west southwest wind 23 to 29 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph.

New Year’s Day: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 27. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Thursday night: Scattered snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 21. West wind 9 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
