Fleeing suspect tasered; deported dangerous felon arrested

mcso_cruiser_k9BRANCH TWP. — A 22-year-old Walhalla man was tasered following a foot chase Christmas Eve at 8:57 a.m. at a residence at 186 S. Walhalla Rd.

Mason County Sheriff’s deputies went to the residence to arrest the suspect on a two-count warrant charging him with interfering with electronic communications and third-offense domestic violence. “The subject fled from officers, and a foot chase ensued and ended when the subject was tasered,” according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. “He was treated by medical personnel for the taser deployment, then lodged.” The suspect is now also being charged with two counts of resisting/opposing police.

A 36-year-old man was arrested by MCSO on Christmas Day at 4:21 p.m. following a traffic stop on Pere Marquette Highway near US-10 in Pere Marquette Township on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) warrant charging him as a “deported dangerous felon.” The suspect is currently lodged in the Mason County Jail pending pickup by ICE officials, Cole said.
