Manistee couple arrested on fraud warrants; stolen car mix-up top sheriff activity

mcso_cruiser_k9HAMLIN TWP. — A 52-year-old Manistee woman and a 54-year-old Manistee man, who are husband and wife, were arrested by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Dec. 15, at 8:49 a.m. in the 1900 block of Lakeshore Drive on warrants issued by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was arrested on a felony fraud and a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant, and the man was arrested on a misdemeanor fraud warrant.

A 2012 Chrysler Town & Country left running in a parking lot was taken while the owner was inside a business Monday at 2:15 p.m. in the 4800 block of W. US-10 in Pere Marquette Township. The vehicle was spotted approximately 30 minutes later by the Scottville Police Department and was stopped on US-10 and Stiles Road by SPD and MCSO. “The driver complied and stated she borrowed the vehicle from a friend,” Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole said. “It happened the vehicle stolen matched that of the one the driver was given permission to borrow and was parked in the same parking lot.”

– 6:13 p..m., two-vehicle crash, no injuries, US-10 and Pere Marquette Hwy, PM Twp.
