LUDINGTON — Over 75 people attended Thursday night’s Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital Win with Wellness cooking demonstration at Ludington High School. The attendees were treated to generous portions of roast and salad while they listened to chef and nutritionist Laura McCain speak about preparing the foods in a healthy manner. One of the keys McCain spoke of was to kick with certain food in moderation.

“We want to show people that you can cook healthy meals that are tasty meals,” said Patricia Ezdebski, marketing director of the hospital. “You don’t have to add a lot of extras to your food and you can still have a good, delicious meal.”

McCain, who works at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, spoke about making braised pot roast with vegetables. Recipes were handed out to the attendees which included directions to the pot roast along with an apple cider vinaigrette, pears with balsamic reduction, roast butternut squash and toasted pecans.
