LANSING — State Rep. Ray Franz (101st District) has been selected as Assistant Speaker Pro-Tempore for the 2015-2016 legislative session of the Michigan House of Representatives.

“I am honored to be selected by my peers to help lead the House next session as we work to continue Michigan’s comeback for families,” said Franz, R-Onekama.  “It’s important that our reform policies encourage an economic atmosphere and climate where jobs are available and people have opportunities to be successful.”

The assistant speaker pro tempore helps preside over the House proceedings, moderate debate, make rulings on procedure, and announce the results of votes.

First elected in 2010, Franz this session has served as vice chair of the House Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, vice chair on the House Education Committee, and is a member on the Energy and Technology, Local Government, and Michigan Competitiveness committees. Franz represents Mason, Manistee, Benzie and Leelanau counties.
