Scooter driver injured after crash on the Avenue

LUDINGTON — A 59-year-old Ludington was injured Wednesday afternoon after the motorized scooter he was driving was struck by an SUV at the corner of Ludington Avenue and Delia Street. The crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. when a Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by a 65-year-old Ludington man, was traveling west on Ludington Avenue and was attempting to turn south onto Delia Street. The SUV struck the east-bound scooter.

The scooter driver was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital by Life EMS ambulance where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV was uninjured and was cited by Ludington Police Department for failure to yield the right-of-way.

Also responding to the scene was Ludington Fire Department.
