House of Flavors requesting tax abatement

July 28, 2014

LUDINGTON — House of Flavors, Inc. is requesting a tax abatement from the City of Ludington for nearly $1 million in new equipment.

According to a letter from House of Flavors to the city, the ice cream manufacturer has purchased and installed a new, fully automated production filling line. The filling line allows them to fill a clear, round plastic container with a screw top lid. The equipment that has been purchased includes a new labeler, filler, capper, tamper evident bander and conveyors. The project began Jan. 15, 2014 and was completed May 1, 2014.

The city has scheduled a public hearing for Aug. 11 to receive input from residents.

Tonight’s city council meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and meets at city hall, 400 S. Harrison St., Ludington.
