COVE groundbreaking Tuesday

April 28, 2014

LUDINGTON — COVE (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters) will hold a groundbreaking Tuesday at 10 a.m. at its new location, 906 E. Ludington Ave. The organization is raising funds to construct a new facility in Ludington to replace the 112 year-old house that serves as the COVE shelter and the small, 36 year-old modular office building.

COVE needs to raise $2.4 million for the facility and to-date has raised approximately 90 percent of that goal. The mission of COVE is to provide shelter, protection and advocacy to victims of domestic and sexual violence and/or homelessness and to educate the community about the root causes of violence. COVE is the only organization providing such services in Lake, Mason and Oceana Counties .

More information and interviews with COVE Executive Director, Marie Waite, may be available at 10 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the event is cancelled.
