How are the roads? Our readers report

January 27, 2014

Secondary roads around Mason County continue to be drifted in. MCP asked readers earlier today to let us know what’s going on in their area. Here’s what they had to say:

– Victory Drive: Eric Egeler, who lives on Victory Drive west of Stiles Road said Victory Drive between Stiles and angling is in bad shape. “Please stay off Victory Drive… I’m tired of pulling vehicles out.”

– Victory Park Road: Becky Johnson said Victory Park Road is drifted shut and hasn’t been plowed since Thursday.

– Victory Corners Road: Shirley Sawdy said Victory Corners Road had been plowed this morning but the east-west roads seemed worse to her.

– Decker Road: Albert Everette said Decker west of U.S. 31 was in need of plowing.

Kistler and Appleton roads: Cindy Weinert said Kistler and Appleton roads haven’t been plowed since Thursday. Donna Brown reported that Washington Road (on the county line with Oceana County) was drifted closed with zero visibility.

– Sugar Grove Road: Nancy Shirey said Sugar Grove was drifted this morning.

– Fountain Road: Theresa Jones said Fountain Road from the village of Fountain to Ford Lake was drifting this morning with white out conditions at times.

– Tuttle Road: Kris Shafer said Tuttle Road south between Cabana and Major roads was completely plugged.

– Custer Road: Kelly Abrahamson said Custer Road between Wilson and U.S. 10 was plowed earlier today. “Not sure as you go further south.”

– Nurnberg Road: Cheryl Richardson said Nurnberg was plowed this morning. “Kudos to the road commission for keeping at it all weekend. Great job.”

– Jebavy Drive: Scott Lijewski said Jebavy Drive was clear this morning (Jebavy is a primary road from U.S. 10 to Angling Road). Amber Coffman reported that Jebavy was icy, though.
– Decker Road: West of Jebavy reported plowed earlier today.

– M-116: Near the Lakeshore is impassable. Officials from Ludington State Park are asking people to avoid the park.

– Masten Road. Eric Waldron reported that the road commission had cleared drifting from Masten Road from Hawley to Kinney earlier today.
