He loved to entertain his friends and family. Jim was a mentor to many, and loved by all who knew him. His cabin on Indian Pete Bayou had an open door policy where friends and family gathered daily and it was the site of a never-ending fish fry. There was always a cribbage board ready to go and he recently took up Wii bowling. To this date he holds the neighborhood record with a perfect 300 game. He was truly a wonderful person who will be sadly missed. Jim had a great way of making everyone feel loved and important. He was a member of the American Legion Post 76, a life member of the Custer Gold Bar VFW Post, the Walleye Association, Hamlin Lake Society, Optimist Club of Ludington, Fin and Feather Club, and the Ludington Boat Club. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who traveled the world hunting, fishing and enjoyed woodworking in his pole barn.
