2 injured on 31 bypass, car rolls over on expressway

AMBER TWP. — Two people were injured in a head-on crash on the U.S. 31 bypass near Scottville Monday afternoon. The crash occurred on a slushy highway around 2:30 p.m. About the same time, a report of a single vehicle rollover was reported on U.S 31 expressway near the rest area in Summit Township.

The Amber Township crash involved two Kias. A 24-year-old Ludington woman driving the northbound Kia was reported to have a head injury. The 64-year-old Free Soil man, driving the southbound vehicle appeared to have minor injuries. Both were transported by Life EMS ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital.

Responding to the scene, in addition to Life EMS, were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Scottville Police Department, Scottville Fire Department and Custer Fire Department.

Responding to the expressway crash were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Pere Marquette Fire Dept. and Ludington Fire Dept.

Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole reminds drivers to use extra caution in winter weather.
