Accident causes power disruption

UPDATED. AMBER TWP. — A 17-year-old Ludington male was not injured after the pickup truck he was driving rolled over and struck a Consumers Energy power pole this morning. The accident occurred on Stiles Road north of Hansen Road. The driver, Nate Schmidt, apparently was attempting to pass a semi truck on the icy road.

After the pole was struck, electrical power in Amber Township and Scottville was disrupted. Following the power disruption personnel from the Scottville library reported a smell of smoke there. Scottville Fire Department was dispatched to both locations. Mason County Sheriff’s Office personnel were on scene of the accident. The driver was cited for careless driving.
