Obit: Nioma Silvis, 90, Riverton Twp.

SilvisNioma Phoebe Silvis, aged 90 of Riverton Township, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Oakview Medical Care Facility.  Nioma was born on March 9, 1923, the daughter of Ervin and Alice (Stuck) McVicker, and married Willis L. “Jim” Silvis on June 6, 1942.

If Nioma had a Lucky number it would have been seven as she had seven children, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much.  In addition to her family, Nioma loved her crafts, gardening, bingo, house plants, and playing cards, especially with her sisters.  Nioma was also a member of the Custer Gold Bar VFW Post 5096 Ladies Auxiliary.

Nioma will be lovingly remembered by her sons Frank (Diane) Silvis of Hart, Ervin (Susan) Silvis of Pentwater, and Frederick (Kathy) Silvis of Custer, her daughters Beverly (Barry) Kelly, Alice (Emil) Vidak, and Kathleen (Mark) Couturier all of Ludington, her grandchildren Christopher Silvis of Hawaii, Steven (Misty) Silvis of Hart, Glenn McCumber and Julie McGilvray of California, Annette Conkle of Hart, and Ivan Henry of Ludington, her great-grandchildren Keri Hurst of Kokomo, Ind., Shane Silvis of Hart, Marc and Erika McCumber of Traverse City, Lauren McGilvray of California, Tresa Anderson of Hart, and Jonathon Anderson of Ludington, her brother Mervin (Donna) McVicker of Fountain, her sister Myrtle Compeau, her cousin Gloria Abshire of Ludington, her special friend Irene Peterson of Ludington, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her son Ivan J. Silvis, her grandson Duane Ivan McCumber, and her sisters Ella North, and Eunice Cobb.

Graveside services will be held for Nioma at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 9 at Center Riverton Cemetery with Pastor Leo Anderson officiating.  There will be no funeral home visitation or services.
