LUDINGTON – The following defendants were sentenced this past week in 79th District
Court:

– Melissa Kim Palma, 33, of 7175 Catherine Ave., Fountain, was found guilty Oct. 8 of third-degree retail fraud. She was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend Economic Crime Program; and $580 in fines and costs.

– Jose Eric Estrada, 22, of 167 Ferry St., Shelby, was found guilty Oct. 10 of driving while license suspended (DWLS). He was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; $225 in fines and costs; and 30 days discretionary jail for one year. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).

– Sean Russell Daugherty, 29, of 118 S. Wildwood Crossing, Apt. 8, Ludington, was found guilty Oct. 8 of domestic violence. He was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; outpatient treatment; $580 in fines and costs; and 93 days discretionary jail for one year.

– Nikki Doris Bailey, 30, of 7475 S. Morse Rd., Branch, was found guilty Oct. 8 of DWLS. She was sentenced to one year discretionary jail for two years with credit for 40 days served; and $125 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Juan Ayala Centeno, 68, of 3330 W. Miller Rd., Lansing, was found guilty Oct. 8 of operating while impaired by liquor. He was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; outpatient treatment; $1,145 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend next session of the Victims Impact Panel; no alcohol/drugs; subject to random preliminary breath tests (PBTs); subject to random drugs tests; and must attend Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) once a week for one year. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Jeffrey Allen Patterson II, 30, of 3763 W. Hidden Forrest, Ludington, was found guilty Oct. 8 of malicious destruction of personal property. He was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; and $759.05 in fines, costs and restitution.

– John Ernest Hernandez, 52, of 120 W. State St., Scottville, was found guilty Oct. 8 of failure to maintain security (no insurance). He was sentenced to $580 in fines and costs and one year discretionary jail for one year. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Susan Marie Chamberlain, 60, of 6694 E. Oak Ridge St., Fountain, was found guilty Oct. 8 of assault and battery. She was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; no contact with victim; and $285 in fines and costs.

– Vaughn Anthony Adrus, 27, of 3261 S. Scottville Rd., Scottville, was pleaded no contest Oct. 8 to attempted assaulting/resisting/obstructing and disorderly person/drunk. He was sentenced to two jail terms of five days with credit for two days served; six months discretionary jail for one year for Count I and 90 days discretionary jail for one year for Count II; must have a substance abuse evaluation; no alcohol/drugs; and $630 in fines and costs.

– Nathan Sean Garn, 23, of PO Box 61, Ludington, was found guilty Oct. 3 of improper registration, failure to transfer. He was sentenced to $175 in fines and costs.

– Randal Lee Via, 33, of 5251 Thunderbird Dr., Fountain, was found guilty Oct. 3 of driving while license expired and sentenced to $225 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Rachael Jean Hansen, 20, of 1302 N. Sherman Rd., Ludington, was found guilty Oct. 1 of impaired driving. She was sentenced to 14 days in jail with credit for 14 days served; outpatient treatment; $1,145 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend next session of victims Impact Panel; no alcohol/drugs; must attend AA two times per week; and subject to random PBTs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Michael John Curry, 27, of 4059 E. Church St., Fountain, was found guilty Oct. 1 of operating while intoxicated or under a controlled substance. He was sentenced to 32 days in jail with credit for two days served; outpatient counseling; $1,145 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; must report to jail Dec. 15 unless enrolled in Impact Weekend; no alcohol/drugs; and subject to random PBTs. Conviction reportable to SOS. He was also found guilty of driver transporting open intoxicant. He was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 90 days discretionary jail for two years; and $265 in fines and costs. One count of operating with a blood alcohol level of .17 or more was dismissed.

– Andrew Thomas Walicki, 24, of 9098 80th Ave., Pentwater, was found guilty Oct. 1 of false report of a misdemeanor. He was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for two years; 40 hours of community service; and $580 in fines and costs.

– Donald Lawrence Martin, 40, of 401 N. Delia St., Ludington, was found guilty Oct. 1 of operating with blood alcohol content over .17. He was sentenced to 32 days in jail with credit for two days served; outpatient counseling; $1,345 in fines and costs; 180 days discretionary jail for two years; must report to jail on Dec. 15 unless enrolled in Impact Weekend; no alcohol/drugs; subject to random PBTs; and must attend AA two times per week for two years. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Derek John Brimmer, 32, of 6276 Russell St., Ludington, was found guilty Oct 1 of DWLS. He was sentenced to nine days in jail with credit for nine days served; one year discretionary jail for two years; $760 in fines and costs; and may perform 40 hours community service for a $400 credit toward fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Michael Alan Kemp, 53, of 5274 N. Barh Dr., Lot 49, Irons, was found guilty Oct. 1 of impaired driving. He was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; Alcohol Highway Safety Education (AHSE); $1,145 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; must attend next session of the Victims Impact Panel; no alcohol/drugs; must attend AA twice a week for two years; and subject to random PBTs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Ronald Murray Broadwell, 62, of 5959 E. Hansen Rd., Custer, was found guilty Oct. 2 of allowing a person to drive in violation. He was sentenced to 32 days in jail with credit for two days served; $580 in fines and costs; outpatient treatment; 90days discretionary jail for two years; must report to jail on Dec. 15 unless enrolled in Impact Weekend; no alcohol/drugs; must attend AA twice a week for two years; and subject to random PBTs. One count of operating while intoxicated, second offense, was dismissed.

Dismissals

– Thomas Charles Teague, 59, of 109 E. Foster St., Spt. 2, Ludington, one count of failure to register as a sex offender was dismissed Oct. 2.

– Donald Lawrence Martin, 40, of 401 N. Delia St., Ludington, one count of operating while intoxicated or under the influence of liquor was dismissed Oct. 1.
