LUDINGTON — Murder charges are being filed against Sean Michael Phillips, in relation to the alleged death of Katherine “Baby Kate” Phillips, WOOD TV-8 of Grand Rapids has reported. Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette along with Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola are supposed to give more details about the charges during a 12:30 p.m. press conference today at Ludington Municipal Complex.

Phillips is currently serving a maximum 15 year sentence in relation to the June 2011 disappearance of then-4-month-old Baby Kate. He was found guilty in April 2012 of unlawful imprisonment. Following his sentence, law enforcement announced they were pursuing a murder investigation.

A felony complaint against Phillips has been filed in 79th District Court charging Phillips with one count of homicide, open murder for the death of Katherine Shelbie-Elizabeth Phillips.
